How awful would it be if the whole station started drifting ?

Thankfully, thrusters help maintaining the trajectory of the station : they are propulsive devices used by spacecrafts for station keeping, attitude control, but also in the reaction control system or acceleration.

Thrusters must be positioned to provide stabilization about all three axes. At least two thrusters are generally used in each axis to provide moment as a couple in order to prevent the vehicule from translating.
