A loo like no other

It is a common concern: How do astronauts go to the loo ?
In the absence of weight, the collection and retention of liquid and solid waste is directed by use of air flow.
But of course, the air is filtered before returning to the cabin !
Some modern systems kill bacteria by exposing solid waste to vacuum pressures. It prevents odor problems and kills germs.
Astronauts use the suction pipe, or sit on the red platform, which also vacuums.
